MEMBERSHIP
As of May 2025, the Alberta Occupational Health Nurses’ Association (AOHNA) has formally concluded operations. Following a Special Resolution passed by our membership in April 2025, AOHNA members have transitioned to the Alberta Society of Health and Safety Professionals (ASHSP).
ASHSP is a provincial organization established in 2017, dedicated to advancing occupational health and safety (OHS) as a recognized profession in Alberta. They are actively working toward establishing a Professional Regulatory Organization (PRO) that will provide:
-
Title Protection – Ensuring only qualified individuals can use professional OHS titles.
-
Scope of Practice Protection – Restricting complex health and safety tasks to certified professionals.
-
Ethical and Competency Standards – Upheld through a legislated regulatory body.
We encourage all Occupational Health Nurses and related professionals to consider membership with ASHSP. To learn more about ASHSP and to apply for membership, please visit their website:
For any questions regarding this transition, please contact us at aohnaweb@gmail.com.
Thank you for your support and dedication to Occupational Health Nursing in Alberta.
